Creating Real Outcomes for Foster Youth in San Antonio

Creating Real Outcomes for Foster Youth in San Antonio At THRU Project, impact is measured by more than participation, it’s measured by stability, growth, and long-term success.

Each year, we support hundreds of youth and young adults with a history of foster care as they navigate the transition into independent adulthood. Through consistent mentorship, housing support, mental health services, and career development, we help turn uncertainty into opportunity.

22% of individuals aged out of foster care experienced homelessness by age 17 in Texas.*
29% of individuals with lived experience in foster care have not received their high school diploma/GED equivalence or higher by the age 21 in Texas.**

Why This Work Matters

Young people aging out of foster care face significant challenges, including housing instability, limited access to education, and gaps in mental health support. Without a strong support system, the transition to adulthood can be overwhelming.

THRU Project exists to change that trajectory.
By providing a reliable network of support, we help young people build the foundation they need to move forward with confidence.
